Holy Heck where did that year go?

I find Facebook “on this day” memories always a bit of a treat. Giving you a snapshot of your life from just last year – or a decade ago. I was slightly taken a back the other day however when a memory came up of us up at Nest just before we welcomed our first guests. This couldn’t be for real, the past months have rocketed by in such a whirlwind of learning, developing, and doing that we almost missed our first year Nest anniversary – and what a year it’s been.

We never in our wildest dreams thought our little project (or side hustle as we call it) would be able to spark the imagination and be enjoyed by so many - especially opening in the depths of a covid pandemic. We have taken so much joy in providing a place where people can celebrate, escape, rest and relax in our special part of paradise in the Hakataramea Valley. We have so enjoyed hearing of wedding proposals, and even hosting our first ever wedding in October (with more booked for the months to come). The comments in our guest books never fail to give me butterflies.

We still have so much to learn about hospitality and the NZ tourism industry, and I continue to take each day at a time with all the new opportunities and challenges which continue to arise.

When we first opened Nest, we thought we might have two to three guests staying a week. So to now find ourselves fully booked out to almost August has completely blown our minds.

We are just so incredibly wholeheartedly grateful for all the support we have had, it drives us to complete the second Nest.

One year down and we couldn’t be more chuffed. Thanks again for all your support.
